Genre- A type of music video that belongs in one category. Hip-hop: Wiggle- Jason Derulo
I think that the institution would pick a hip-hop genre for this artist because it specifically fits his image. Also in this video you can clearly denote all the conventions you would typically see in a hip-hop video such as girls and a rich and glamorous background. This has a positive impact on the audience as it lets them get into the beat and also have some awareness of maybe this is how celebrities live.

| The big expensive background(1:01-1:03) |
I can use this style in my music videos but then to make it a hip-hop genre i would need the right props and people therefore i would need expensive things and i would need girls to dance around but the likelihood of that isn't high.
Performance- A music video taken place at a live concert or the style is as if the artists are performing.
What i enjoy about this music video is that it has a mix of a narrative and a performance. The performance is footage from a concert as there are various shots of the audience all jumping to the beat. This sort of music video really makes the artists seem authentic as it shows how popular they actually are and it shows the artist in the real light as they are just doing a normal performance which they have probably done a load of times before. This sort of music video really can relate to the audience as you may actually go to the concert.
I will find this difficult to incorporate into my music video because i will need a cast of people who can actually play an instrument and it ill be hard to gather a lot of people.
Parody- Another version of a music video but it mocks it and exaggerates things. We Can't Stop Parody.
This is a parody to Miley Cyrus's "We can't stop". It takes a very comical tone to it and as well as taking the mick out of the dong it also takes the mick out of the artist it self. As Miley Cyrus was known for being a good Disney girl, this song takes her new image and mocks it very harshly. This makes it very funny to watch. This parody could be made because they are taking an artist that has this new disliked image and knowing this they make a parody knowing a lot of people would watch.

| Parody version |
I can use this in my music video because if done successfully then it will be very funny and it will make it an entertaining video earning its replay-ability.
Animation- The whole video being a cartoon or something that is not live action. Heartless: Kanye West
The institution could have picked this style to do the video because it shows that Kanye West is capable of various types of music videos. Also it allows them to do different effects that would be expensive to do in real life. Also the feeling of this song is quite emotional so it allows the audience to experience emotion via a new style. This can impact the audience as it allows them to experience visuals that would otherwise look bland if done in real life with a small budget.

Narrative- A music video which has a clear storyline throughout. Payphone- Maroon 5
The institution may have chosen this style mainly because they have chosen to entice the audience and draw the audience in. This video shows how a place gets robbed and as a worker escapes he is mistaken for one of the robbers and police chase him up until he gets to the payphone and he tries to call home. Also the institution may have found that this is the best way to express this song as it shows how much effort this guy went through before he got to the end and he hasn't got any money because he spent it on that one girl. The impact on the audience is that it can fully grip them into the narrative and it lets them be more immersed therefore have more emotion and actually interpret the song in the best way possible.
Surrealism- Something unexpected that you see. A-ha: Take on me
I think the institution have chosen this style to make it original and unique from all the other music videos. It has factors within it that make the audience question what they are actually watching and they continue watching to see what else happens. As it is unique it invites word of mouth so then more people now about it and watch it. This can impact the audience as it allows them t experience to sorts of videos and it lets them get into the song into a completely new way.

Interpretive- The actions on screen match the lyrics. Krept & Konan: My story.
This is quite an emotional song and the institution may have picked to do this style to emphasize the story more. This was based on a true story and as the lyrics say things such as "Then i hear a gunshot" the video clearly has diegetic sound of a gunshot. This emphasizes the emotion that is being portrayed.

Intertexuality- One text referring to another. Eminem: Without me
In this video i think the institution have done this sort of video because it can appeal to a lot of people as it references all these different things such as Elvis Presley and Bin Laden. The main reference throughout is the reference to Robin from Batman and Robin and how he mentions MTV and the channel E!. this can impact the audience as it can create more awareness of these events and they can see serious topics turned into jokes.

I can use this to allow a wider audience as more people will understand the references but i need to make sure the references used are known by my target audience.
Referencing- Putting footage of a film in the video. Ed Sheeran: I see fire.
In this video the only thing seen is footage from 'The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug'. The institution have selected this style because this song plays in the film and also it creates a huge awareness of the film as it only contains footage of the film. Also the artist singing it is a well known artist therefore his fans will see this video and then watch the film and fans of the movie franchise will hear the artist therefore fanbases are being increased for the movie and the artist.
