Evaluation Part 3- How Effective Our Combination of Our Main Product and Ancillary Products Are

Now that the production stage is over we are able to look at our products and we can see how each three of the products show consistency with each other. There are different ways in which consistency is shown. these ways are: Branding, Synergy, Mode of Address,Representation & Themes. The whole point of showing consistency is so the audience knows what product belongs to which artist and it allows the audience to identify and differentiate different artists via their music video, magazine advert and digipak.

Branding

Throughout each product a lot of branding occurred where you can actually identify who the artist is. My partner and I had talked about we wanted our artist to look quite elegant across all 3 products and to give of that sort of sexiness.

Above you can denote 2 images that show how the artist is being portrayed as elegant and classy. The left picture is from the digipak and the right is from the music video. The pose on the left is quite a seductive pose as she is holding her hair back and pushing forward like she is showing her body, which conforms to most conventions of a typical music video; and on the right you can see the how she is wearing a red dress in a natural environment. From this you can see how we have branded our artist across the products. The colour red normally signifies the emotions of love and is quite a sexy colour and even though in both products the colours are different you get the same emotions and you can tell what sort of mood it is conveying from these images.

You also get a sense of a bit of jazz from the hair. My partner had talked about how she wanted the artist to have curly hair that looked exactly how it did in our video and ancillary products. (My partner talking about her hair in the gif) The image above shows how the hair is tied up but you can still see the subtle hint of how curly it is. Across these 3 products you can see a clear strong brand of elegance, class and sexiness also tied in with seeing the slight funk in her personality.

Synergy

Synergy shows how this brand is consistent through the various products. There are various things in our production that shows synergy and this is similar to branding as it allows the audience to identify the artist as their own person and they can clearly denote what is being shown across the products and how it relates to the artist.

CD holder on digipak

Above you can significantly denote a mask in all the products. In the magazine advert there is no physical mask present however you can see how leaves are slowly covering up her head. This symbolises a mask creeping onto her. On the digipak and the video the mask is signified dominantly and you can tell this because in the music video the mask is shown right at the beginning of the video at 0:14. As well as this, on the digipak you can see the her holding the mask and the CD holder has a mask right in the centre, The mask is different for each of the products and this connotes the different identities that are taking over. The magazine advert has leaves slowly covering her, The digipak has a white mask and the music video has a black mask. This shows the synergy of the mask through the ancillary products and the music video.

Above you can see how the red dress has been incorporated into all three of the products. The red dress goes back to how the artist is branded as elegant and classy and also it shows the emotion of love and this connotes that this artist is more of a personality rather than anything else from Dyer's Star theory. This can also be seen with a black dress which makes it valid to say that there was synergy when it came to costume. Most of the mise-en-scene can be denoted as synergy as it is seen though the music video and the ancillary products.

Another piece of synergy that can be seen is the location that is seen throughout all the products. The location that consists of trees connotes the natural feel of the video as it shows that the artist is more authentic and isn't so constructed like hip-hop, R&B artists. You can also denote that the typography is consistent within the ancillary products as it is written in a calligraphy style which goes with the upper class brand of the artist.

Overall the synergy between my music video and the ancillary products are quite effective ni my opinion and it has a lot of symbolism of what we are trying to show.

Mode of  Address

The mode of address is how the products speak to the audience through the atmosphere and tone. It allows the audience to become more intrigued into the products and entices them. This is the purpose of the magazine ad and the digipak.

The green background in both products conveys a calm mood for the consumer and it can make them feel relaxed. Also on the digipak you can denote the artist sitting down looking quite relaxed so it physically shows the audience the mood that the artist is trying to show. The typography is fairly simple, everything is curved and nothing is aggressive.
AC/DC logo- looking quite aggressive
On the right is the AC/DC logo which you can see has a lot of sharp corners and straight edges. This is more of an aggressive typography which can signify tension. Looking at this emphasises the fact that our mode of address is quite calm and relaxed. As the typography can be seen over the two
ancillary products it is quite effective as a combination, however the music video does not have  the same typography but does have the same greenery in it thus showing that combination is effective but not as effective as the synergy or the branding as the others run through all the products.

Representation of the artist

The representation of the artist is how the artist is viewed in the eyes of the audience and what they are thinking about her.

The artist is represented as quite enigmatic as she is wearing a mask and her intentions aren't really that clear creating questions for the audience. The combination of it throughout the ancillary products and the music video emphasizes the mystery and it tempts the audience to watch the video as well as buy the digipak.

Everything really relates back to the branding of the artist. The synergy, mode of address and representation of the artist sprouts out of who the artist is. Our products have an effective combination as they all have different aspects that are seen in all of the porducts the majority of the time.
